I know you come here to find what this new decision engine. You expect one program/engine which thinks like a human mind.
Now a day’s most of us are spending time with their gadgets. We are not recognizing that these gadgets are ruling us. Early 70’sor 80’s people used to remember the phone number and their address etc. At some point time the electronic devices like digital diary etc., started helping us to remember our important data.
Later we used these devices primary storage source and brain as secondary. Now days we hardly use our brain to remember, we say everything is on my Mac/PC. Ask your granny she still remember how she celebrated your first birthday.
These gadgets are supposed to be used to support our lifestyle, not to rule us.
Recently, I bought iPhone4s where Apple introduced a cool new feature called SIRI (BTW, in my regional language word Siri means laugh). This Siri is nothing but a virtual personal assistant which will do your common tasks. It will set up reminders or make a call's etc. If collects information like who I am, where do I live and wife’s name and so many of my details. Remember this Siri will work only when you have 3G or internet access. So, when I am in my car, I just have to say “Call my Wife”. Siri will connect me and her. The coolest feature … huh!
The change which we don’t realize because of SIRI like Voice activated cool feature on costly electronic gadgets?
Everyone likes to get their job done with less time and utmost perfection and less brain/body effort and less cost. These Silicon Valley companies employ intelligent humans who can write programs which will reduce the effort of common person’s daily routine. We have to blindly follow the instruction to use that program.
Let us review the last 4/5 decades;
We used to remember everything phone numbers, address and festivals, seasons, fights, relatives, cousins, good functions etc. We used to spend most of the time with family and lived happily. One day Television (TV) came to our life to increase the fun during our spare time. We invited TV to our home and got addicted. Today TV plays a very important role for our family weekend dinner. How many of you have dinner without TV, very few… huh! Watch out, TV can make you obese if you practice to eat in front of him.
Let me start where I left, then we got the cell phone which reduces distance between us. We forgot how to write a letter. I remember my mom used to write letter to my father with very minimal strikethrough. Now how many of you can write a letter with less strikes.
Anyway, allow me to go further.
Then this device got an address book so you pick a person and call from that device. Then same cellphone got new feature to block or divert to voice mail to irrelevant calls, keep up the distance between some people.
These Silicon Valley companies found that cell phone is going to be the next most important gadget for most of the human being. So, they started adding all features like daily/weekly/monthly/yearly reminders, calendars, and public holidays based on country etc. We fail to understand that we are in bondage to gadgets and entering to the dark hole of the electronic decision world.
Lately, we are getting introduced by the voice activated feature which will do the job for us if you follow its language. Let me share you this scene, I never had a shoe till I finish my college. I always wished for a good one. When I got my first job I bought a good shoe but I forget to wear initial days. Over long years of practice now my foot automatically gets into the shoes before I close the main door.
Likewise over a period of practice and continuous usage of these gadgets will lead us to the electronically controlled world.
In my imagination Electronic controlled world created by Silicon Valley, they will send us hourly instructions to lead your daily life, like whether I have to cut my hair, who all I have to call, Who are my friends, invitation list for the Christmas party, Vitamins or minerals missing for the day, Who is my enemy, who didn’t give a gift for my marriage, which cousin is not in contact, probably it may tell us Date of Death too, and more.
Fascinating, huh!
Finally we reached the finishing line, before these gadgets came to our life most of us used the better part of brain for various activities. We use our brain to make a decision.
Now we use our brain to follow as per the gadgets, which means we are being ruled by someone in Silicon Valley.
